So this is where you all hang out!
Posted by nick boulby on May 8, 2006 at 9:52 pmHello everyone,
I have just left a well known banner & flag printers where I was employed as graphics manager operating a wide range of printers including solvent and sublimation printing. I have now set up my own business in the same trade, there was a lot of stress and no future for me where I was so thought it was time to take the plunge. And now its double the stress and even less financial reward BUT I LOVE IT!! or at least I will do when I get my new cadet plus up and running and earning some money.
Anyway just wanted to say hello, look forward to talking to someone I may be needing some company! :lol1:

Welcome aboard Nick. Good luck with your business!
Will you only run solvent on a cadet or also dye sublimation?JJ

Hi, thanks everyone.
I am just running with solvent inks in the cadet (uses too much ink when you empty it to fill it again!!) I might get a little Epsom printer for sublimation printing of table flags and other bits and pieces but to be honest i am just concentrating on paying for the solvent printer for now. Scary!

Hello and welcome Nick, you can collect you strait jacket in reception 😀

I meant a second machine using dye sub inks, I wrote it a bit unluckily. What trade inks would you put in that Epson? Asking because I am currently gathering info about using dyesub for bannerstands.
ThanksJJ

Hi JJ,
We used to use Manoukien (spelling?) argon inks in our Rolan fj740.
Give R.A. Smarts a ring they will give you some good advice. Good price as well for their sublimation inks. They do an extra black black ink which would be handy for pop up display films. Never tried sublimation for that purpose but I think it would give very good results if you have a big heat press and the media to take the temperature without melting!
