  • so how do you do this?

I’m working away at a load of small signs this morning and just wondered how the rest of you do this.
It’s small vinyls, 3 colours that get layered up. The vinyls do not go on to anything else but are given to the customer on the backing paper all made up.
When I’m layering the colours on I need to be careful that the app tape doesn’t pull at the background and ripple it.
Does anyone have any wee hints or tricks that makes this easier?

    Same here as well.

Can it be done any other way?

Ive done it with low tac transparent, had no problems. Layered up a 2m section in small pieces then covered the lot with my usual app tape for application on site.

Same here but sometimes I do prefer to remove the app tape.
Don’t rub down hard on the app tape on application.
I lightly spray some app fluid or water on the tape and wait 30 seconds before peeling off.
Likely the customer is going to get some ugly air ridges when applying a 3 layer graphic imho.

    Marcella, just re-read your post,
do you mean the graphic is supplied without app tape?

Hmmmm… that certainly makes it interesting! Aside from getting them printed, the only way I can see to make it any easier is to use the clear app tape, as this doesn’t stick as aggressively as the opaque. Other than that… good luck!
