  • so at my age, what would you do?

Having recently shown footage of me in a free fall wind tunnel, I have now the opportunity to spend two weeks in California, gaining a freefall licence. I can’t do it in england owing to my age (just saying over 55)
Should I go or should I not, the cost is only a couple of K, all inclusive. It seams like a good deal. I am going anyway 😀 but just want your comments, encouragement, offers of donations to charity etc….

    Hi Peter,
Where are you going? You can PM me a link to the place if you want and I will see how close it is to me. California is a big place though. It would be cool to meet up with you. Are you brining Lynn?

PETER, as the saying go’s…. GO on my son! :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

i have 3 mates that done it a few years back, "all at once" they loved it!
they keep bleeting they are gonna do it again but havent….

your a bigger man than me for even considering it! 😛
(puppy-eyes) come to think of it, thats not very hard. 🙄

if you plan on doing a jump for charity keep us all posted.
UKSB will put up the first £250 towards your cause.

in fact, an old regular on the boards/uksb (Mr Mike Brown) owes me around £1000 and i beleive is now doing a sponsored "trip around the uk :lol1: "
should he find it in himself to come forward and pay his due, ill add what he owes me to take the donation to £1250.

use this post as backup should i not keep my word 😀

oh and if ytou do it… get it videoed and we will show it on the boards… that would be brilll! 😛

Rob its not for charity, I will be paying the cost myself, but any bets donations etc, wil be given by yourself to any charity, so they get 100% of the donation. I will consider sponsorship. free off charge with 100% to charity. This is providing I can confirm the booking for the course in the next few days.

Jump to me death? you should be so lucky, OK it a fridaynight post, but it’s something I have always wanted to do.
The donations to charity are appreciated, I am going to do it anyway(pending confirmation) but I am open to suggestions to how I can enhance any donations? e.g. how much will you donate if I dont open the chute!! no dont, but you get the idea,

    Anyone else up for it?
    PM me for details.

I wouldn’t do it Peter – what if the chute doesn’t open 😕

Me and Alison did a parachute jump at Strathallan Airfield many years ago. We reveived one days training then did a jump from 2,000 feet using a static line (which means the chute opens automatically) It was fantastic but I would never do it again now.

One thing they don’t tell you though is to make sure your chuckies are out of the way of the crotch straps – mine weren’t and when the chute opened they got a bit crushed *hair*

    Go for it Peter!
It’s been a long time since I jumped. So, the rules probably have changed since then. But, from what I recall, you were required to perform two perfect static line jumps before you can pursue freefall.
