Smudging of Gerber Edge prints
We have just had two signs returned to us from a customer where the ink has delaminated from the vinyl and transferred to the face of another sign now i have contacted the supplier already about other signs that were returned with the same problem, lucky that both were small orders and in total 5 signs were affected, I print 50 – 70 kms a year at least and until a few months ago had never come across this problem. I am aware that edge prints should not be packed face to face or the recommendation is
to place a piece of paper in between the faces but the delamination has happened when packed face to face and back to back.
The response from supplier was that in hot or humid conditions vinyls and pvc will bloom plasticisers and the excess plasticisers will cause the prints to delaminate.
Having been using the edge for 4.5 years now using various ribbons and never coming across this problem before i was wondering if anyone else has come across this. We regularly send out large consignments and are obviously worried that these could end up being returned
