Equipment – Roland VP and Metamark MD5

We seem to be experiencing slight banding with a deep magenta print when run in normal print. This is new and can only be seen in a magenta colour. Run a nozzle test and it seems to be firing on all nozzles and when printed in best mode there are no issues although this takes sometime.

    Heads cleaned, power cleaned etc.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. We do have a maintenance contract but if I can resolve it would just save us a lot of wasted time over the next few days.

    Thanks

Man, I wish my contract customers would try and finds the answer to their problems before coming to me :lol1: :lol1:

It’s weird how it’s only in a certain mode. Have you tried using a different ‘normal mode’ profile? If it’s the same on two different profiles then I would look at fine tuning head calibrations. If it changes with the profile, there’s your answer 🙂

Thanks Stafford, tried another Metamark profile but the print until recently has been perfect. It’s odd, it’s almost as if not enough ink is getting through when you flood coat magenta, all the other colours are fine. As you know there are four separate heads on the VP. Should have an answer tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

Try turning the heat down on the bed. We been having the same problem with greys and that helped.

Thanks for the advice, we had a new head fitted yesterday. Even though we were having a 100% of the nozzles firing the head had just worn out and when you looked at the test print the nozzle lines had slightly lost their shape. In all fairness this was the original head which has lasted 9 years so can’t complain.

All up and running now. We still have the original Yellow and Cyan heads so I guess they will be due for replacement soon.
