  • Simple Graphics to Vector, help

Posted by John Cooper on 9 May 2008 at 08:16

I haven’t done a lot with CorelDraw but last evening Angie asked if I could cut a devil’s pitchfork.

That should be easy I thought and I fired up CorelDraw. Three hours later and all I’d achieved was a ugly looking mess! The head of the pitchfork was wonky, none of the arrows were similar to each other!!

So what is the secret to converting a simple graphic into a precision vector for cutting? Practice I guess.

    John,

Would suggest to try to replicate as many elements as you can – by this I mean you only need to do one arrow and duplicate. Get a simple letter ‘U’ convert to curves and tweak to make up the left and right one. Make sure you space equally etc.

    And practice I guess..

File Swapping is the last place I would have posted this, I’m not ‘swapping’ anything simply seeking help in converting graphics to vector.

    Thanks for the reply Martin.

I acknowledge the main problem is my lack of familiarity with CorelDraw and the methods that can be employed.

I’ll practice on this graphic by, as you suggest, creating one and duplicating. Then I’ll need to discover how to join the parts together.

There’s no substitute for understanding 🙂

…not perfect but something for you to work from.

    Perfect! Thanks Martin.

Perhaps File Swapping was the best place after all – like ‘new for old’.

    Cheers

You are requesting assistance on creating a vector "file".
not discussing a sign design you have created yourself and require advice, tips or options on improving it.

your topic title was also inappropriate which was also changed. 🙄
