    Hi Guys
a few short years ago we had supplied bmw mini stripes which were 2 coloured in various colour ways. so mainly they were black stripes with a silver 6mm edge. We use to use a gerber edge for this which made a great job. We no longer have this machine, but want to do similar work. Is there a solution out there to be able to do this type of metallic printing, which can be used for vehicle graphics.
    cheers

Have you tried printed solid black directly to a metallic silver vinyl, which would leave the silver band down each side exposed after contour cutting?

this wouldn’t work with colours as such because they would rely on the white background to achieve the colour printed.

    Hi
not tried that, but wondered if the solvent ink would adhere correctly and be a good consistent print.
Has anyone else tried this and been happy with the results. I guess there is one way to find out.

I had to make some repro vintage motorbike tank stripes, they were black and gold. Using my latex the results weren’t great direct to the metallic gold, we ended up printing onto clear and laying it over the gold.

I’ve printed onto silver 751 Oracle vinyls using a solvent inkjet. However, I only get good results after cleaning the surface with isopropanol, it’s amazing the difference this makes. Tried the same on chrome vinyl but failed miserably
