Signwriting recently painted van?? HELP

Hi Paddy, it depends on what type of paint has been used, if the van has been sprayed with a two pack paint then it should be OK for Monday, usually about 48 hours is long enough. If it has been done with celulose on the other hand Monday is far to soon. You need to wait a couple of weeks before applying vinyl if celulose paint has been used. This is because the paint gives off gasses as it cures and will create bubbles in the vinyl.
Best thing to do if you are unsure is test a small area which will not notice with a bit of vinyl and application tape. If the paint is not hard enough the application tape can take the sheen off the paint and make it look quite dull, like a matt finish.

paddy another point to remember is even after the paint has fully gone off if the prep work to the van was not spot on there is a chance of the paint pulling so i would be best not to pull vinyl off to reposition just incase mate

if you can you are better holding off, there are so many things to be considered. if the pasint job is just a blow overthen paint peel can happen how ever long you give it. As previously mentioned cellulose requires time to cure, the same can be also said for 2 pack because the hardness of 2 pack depends on different factors as in the type of harder used and the conditions that it was applied under. Was it baked on or just done in a open workshop. I would explain the situation to the customer and put the decision in is hands and press home the fact that you can not be held liable for any problems. if you do the job and want to reduce the risk you could apply wet.
