Just wanted to say again how much we enjoyed meeting up with everyone yesterday – although I’m still waiting for my £1million prize for coming first in the "shorter than Robert" competition.

Everyone was just as friendly in the flesh and most were quickly recognisable from their avatars. There were at least a couple of cameras going around, so I’m sure that there will be plenty pics posted later for those who were unable to make it to the show.

Went to bed last night (after finishing a job at midnight) and opened an old back issue of SignCraft which I had bought yesterday. Just a few pages in, there was an article about the Letterhead meet in 2003 hosted by Jill and her friend Catherine, both of whom we had had a good chat with at the airport just a few hours earlier.

Anyway, I’m now off into work to catch up on everything I should have done yesterday – it was definitely worth it though.

Hopefully there will be even more of us next year.

Is this the early morning club then? My printer has been running all night so I’m in here checking every thing is running as it should. It’s the first time I’ve had to do that.

Yes, it was an enjoyable day and nice to meet some more people. Special thanks to Jill for making the effort to cross the Atlantic to be there.

I had one person tell me that I looked nothing like my avatar and another say that it was the spitting image so I can’t win. Perhaps we should have a vote and then I can decide whether to change it or not. 🙂

It was just a shame that I had to rush home to carry on with an important job but hopefully I can avoid that next year and join in the evenings merriment.

Marcella, I didn’t notice any "Belgian Chocolate Bulge" so maybe another box would be in order? 😀

I enjoyed the show too, missed the 1.00pm meet but saw many of you in the bar (where else), I was short on time and I could see everyone was deep in conversation. Always seem a bit of an anticlimax when its the next day a work though.

It was well worth the trip for me! I’m a bit cheesed off because my family delayed me leaving home so I didn’t get to see half the stands I wanted to, but I learnt a few things and met some of you lot!

Thanks to all who made me feel welcome!

Great to meet all these lovely people above me,
(John keep your pic, I recognised you straight away)

Aswell as my main man Mr Dave Lowrey and his son, Iv’e never seen anyone so eager to get to a bar as Dave *drink*

Met the lovely Marcella and her hubby(great guy)

Had a good ol chat with George and as you can see in the photo below
standing next to Robert he’s a damm good contender for the million quid!

Also great to meet Jill, who had trouble with my Essex acsent 😕

Mr & Mrs Normington who were great (thanks for the drink)

Robert bought everyone a drink, when he was coming to the end of the order more people kept arriving, lucky he’s loaded.

Show was good, all you would expect really. Best bit was to meet Beej Curtis from Organic image!

Took a camera and took just 3 photos 🙁

Enjoyed the day and there was plenty to see and only spent £2000 😮

Could have spent a lot more 🙂

Enjoyed meeting all the board members that were able to make it and had a good old chinwag, especially with Martin. We all had to be carefull around Rob (Lambie) in case we stood on him 😀 He does look taller on his avatar 😀

Shane, had a drink for you and hope you enjoyed it as much as I did 😎

Back to work today and playing catch-up. Looking forward to receiving the stuff I ordered at the show and looking forward to next years already.

After meeting Marcella, thought I would post this piccy for her 😀 😀 😀

well… I got home an hour ago. I am knackered!!!! What a great day and it was brilliant to meet so many of you all! I haven’t consumed so much alcohol in ages ……

What can I say about the folks I met……..

Dave Lowery wins the award for being the maddest… closely followed by Lorraine Clinch (who MUST change her avatar!) she’s bonkers!
Martin Cole is a BIG guy! Much taller than I thought and very genuine.
Jill ….. exactly as we all expected her to be, bubbly and tiny!
John Singh – the happiest chappy with a big smile!
George ‘ Mr Clipart’ Elsmore ……. a closet scotsman!!! 😀
Peter Mindham, John Simpson and John Childs – every one the perfect gent! Three very intelligent men!
Andrew Boyle ….. just lovely! (Enjoy the rest of your day!!!) 😀 John Wilson ……daft as a brush. *hair* Peter & Lynn, fab! Thanks for the Champagne Peter 😉

Rob – the worst driver ……. especially on BIG motorways with a bad hangover!

And last but most certainly not least Dave Rowland, Mr Fancy Pants himself! A big softie!!!!

Anyone I missed, I’m sorry ….. I think my brain has been affected by the alcohol!

thanks for a great time folks!!!!

    Hi all,
Just like to say what a pleasure it was to meet and speak to (all be it very briefly) to some of the faces I see on the boards. I would love to have spent a while in the bar with you all but I needed to get back to work to get todays work ready.
Good bits about the show, apart from meeting you all – a girl on the Hexis stand who really knew her products, the guy on the Spandex stand slapping a bit of wrapping on the Smart Car and speaking to Beej Curtis.

    my pants 😉

The weird thing about the show is the fact that people come up to me and they recognise me and SignUK 2005 wasn’t like that, I guess its to do with the Name on the tag and the avaitar (pronouced like the film) 😎 but you genuinly get to know the people and their backgrounds which you already know.

    but really enjoyed it.

I am now looking through some of the names on the board to see who i did talk to but couldn’t figure them out.

One thing I did look at was the those computer monitors as we have a few estate agents interested in them… they were there last year and they are on a wire system (i haven’t a photo handy), but they work of a CF card which you can slideshow (say properties) and it will rotate the images. As always I wonder about the sun impact on LCD displays but this was tidy… think the systems are £1500+ though for a 15" monitor version. A little steep imo.

I beleive there will be "After SignUK" writeups posted here, but we just all returning home now.

It was nice to see those that stopped by our stand. I thought I recognised more faces but didnt want to be embarrassed by saying are you "whoever" and its not and they think I’m a nutter… 😳
We had a 20ft banner above our heads so were easily recognised.
Glad everyone seems to have enjoyed the show and the events that followed. Our crew had an after show party last night in a Greek restaurant which was good fun too.
Time to start planning for Sign UK 2007 😀

Last thing I remember was John talking to a guy in a purple jumper that fancied Rob, and me telling a black guy that I was sure I had black ancestors because I had a black womans ass! 😳 Laugh was he agreed!!!! :lol1:

Whinging at the head bar man for giving Peter extra top ups that he gave me a small bottle of champagne for free….. I opened it and drank it from the bottle then Rob stole it.

    Flash backs …. I think that’s what I’m getting now. 😮

It was absolutely fantastic meeting you all, I had the most brilliant time and want to do it all again. I just wish we had got to the show sooner, could have spent longer with all those who couldn’t come back to the hotel.
Everyone that I met was so genuine, it was fab.

Dave Lowery, I hope you didn’t go back to your car specially, coz I missed you completely later in the day.
All the Johns, nice speaking to you.
Lovely to say ‘Hi’ to Jill, wish I could have had a proper chat, you were very much in demand, hope you had a great time!
Marcella! It’s not ME who’s bonkers, you are!
Rob, Peter & Lynn, John Wilson (hope you are feeling better now) Dave R, ‘Wee Rob’, Andrew, Bob and everyone else, thanks to all of you for a really funny night, it was like being with old freinds. If I have missed anyone out, it’s not intentional, I blame it on Peter’s champagne giving me a loss of memory!

yeah … I was sober then too Martin! I look like a stuck up b1tch in that pic! The only reason you can see me in that one is because I was surrounded by short folk and I was head and shoulders above them! :lol1:

Hi Stu!!! Didn’t know it was sidecars you’re into! My friend races them, I’ve been round Knockhill on one of those, it was great!!! Been to a few GPs, when Steve Webster was winning everything!

    Looks Good! 😀

Just wanted to say thanks to all those who came over to say hello personally 🙂 The stand was so busy for me that I couldn’t even get around to see the rest of the exhibition! That was a real pain as there were so many things I wanted to have a look at and people I wanted to talk to, at least it stopped me spending money though I guess!

On Thursday some little sheet stole one of my my hand-painted vinyl signs, the West Coast Customs one, that really spoilt the show for me – not because of the sign, I can always another in minutes – but because after that I couldn’t turn my back on the audience to carry on airbrushing the wall I was working on. Being at the show on my own and having a couple of valuables on the stand, I was a bit paranoid – lesson learned there I guess! 😕

Great to meet all you guys in person at last, VW Mike, Peter, Chris, Steve M, Steve B (at the Sign Studio), Martin (great to see you there bud :)) Tony, Dewi and Cal, John and Stuart . . . and ALL the others! (sorry if I forgot names) and wish I’d had more time to talk to Jill! I know you went off to Scotland with lots of others, I was so envious of that as I really wanted to go to that meet myself, looking forward to see pics from there . . . already booking my spot for next year and this time, will be taking someone else to watch the stand! My friend and sign bud Paul Priestly was going to that Northern meet too, I think he frequents this board and the Letterheads, didn’t see you tho Rob? Where were you?

Cheers everyone, I really had a blast and it was great fun just chatting and painting all week. Talk more soon . .

    What a lowlife Beej! 👿

Mate it was great to meet you, you were a popular geezer

What was so great was the fact you were the only one at the show doing something traditional -so to speak. As you said its nearly all digital, I personally think that puts a lot of people off going to the show.

Would ge great if someone like Jill could have a stand beside you next year what a crowd puller.

Done a couple of shows for my brothers company years ago at NEC, there were 2 of us, so one could shoot off that was really hard work, I think people underestimate how hard it is to do a show.
So on your own it must be really tuff as you mentioned.

Will book up for one of your courses for sure one day, I’ll have to derust me old airbrush and bring it along.

    take care mate.

That’s poor… can’t imagine anyone doing that. I watched you airbrush the wall… great stuff. But you were so busy i didn’t want to interupt to say hello!
    So … ‘hello’! 😀

Great pic there guys…makes me jealous I missed out.

Is it me or is there a touch of the Catherine Zeta Jones (now Douglas) in the photo of Marcella, the one taken by Martin Cole?? (?)

Maybe its just the Welsh thing! 😳
