SignPal Lynx problem
Posted by bigfoot on 17 April 2006 at 14:37I am having a problem with my Sign Pal Lynx (running Sign Lab 7.1)
Each time I try and cut anything it stops half way through and the lights indicate "Graph was Clipped" I have tried cutting a few files and they are all the same.I am going to have a go later using my mates laptop and Flexi 7
Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be
Thanks

are you checking the size of media
i know in flexi you can poll the media to check the size but im sure if it say graph was clipped it means there is not the correct amount of medi loaded -
I have plenty of Media, trying to cut something out that is 29 inches long by 8 inches high. Have loaded a full roll of 24inch vinyl (25 metres)
Checked all settings on cut manager, everything seems OK.Any ideas please anyone ?

Check the page size in the plotter set up You shouldbe able also to poll the plotter for size befor cutting, if you dont it wil assume the default size.
Peterby the way, for everyday use you may find it better to cut direct to the plotter rather than using cut manager.
you get a preview and you can see if the graphic fits the mediaPeter

I guess tommorrow you might get a reply from jobe (nigel) at Graphityp they sell the Lynx.
When I get "graph was clipped" it indicates the graphic I intended to cut fell outside the paramiters of the roll width ie trying to cut somthing 620mm wide on a 610 cutter without tiling it.
Hope that makes sense

Sorry, meant to ask, has this happened with a new plotter or software, or were things ok, then problem occurred?
If its a new plotter, call the supplier and ask for help,
If signlab is new, again, call your supplier, They will or should be more than happy to guide you through the set upPeter

The only time you see this error on the Lynx machine has already been mentioned, not enough media.
Perhaps your software is sending the job so the length of the job is actually trying to cut across the width of the of the Lynx.
Feel free to call me or our technical dept. 01827 300500

OK to answer a few questions:
Everything was working OK before,
I have Polled the job and it fits on the media OK, It is definitely cutting in the right direction IE not cutting across the width of the media instead of along the length of the Media.
i will ring Nigel and see if they can help
Thanks for your replies so far. -
This should be so easy that it can only mean its something very bizzar.
If you select what you want to cut in Signlab, it tells you at the top of the screen how big the job is in X and Y.
What are the values?I assume you have a LONG roll in the cutter. How wide is the vinyl?
Should the job be an easy fit with many inches to spare or is it close to the same value?
Im not sure if Get Page Size works for you, but if it does, do the values seem correct and should the job fit with those values.
—————————————————————–You mentioned the direction of cutting.
Under Plotter Setup, do you have a check in Axis Swap?
Make sure that you dont.Do you have a Checkmark in Weed Border under Plotter Setup?
Is the weed Offset too big.
Remove the checkmark from Weed BorderUnder Plotter Setup, do have a value for X move or Y Move
Set them to 0.0Under Plotter Setup, are you cutting Page or Signblank?
If you are cutting SignBlank, how big is you SignBlank.
I would set it to cutting Page.
—————————————————————–I would delete the driver and reinstall the driver just in case someone accidently made a change thats not immediatly obvious.
Lastly, is there a chance that Rotate is ON in the cutter?
Make sure Rotate is OFF on the cutters own menu.Frank at cadlink
