Hi…. I am in the process of switching from using Flexi to Using Signlab and the first barrier I have hit is zooming in and out. I would like to use my mousewheel to zoom in & out. Is there a way to activate this in options or that as I cannot seem to find how to change. The version I am using is Signlab V5 Rev 12.

    Many Thanks

    Robert

Hi Robert, There is nothing you can do to activate a zoom on the the mouse wheel, you can use the F5 – F9 keys for quick zoom options, notably F6 to zoom out and F8 to Zoom to selected and F5 to bring up the Magnifying glass to drag a zoom area.
I would doubt that a wheelmouse even existed when Signlab 5 ceased development.

Thanks Ray. Ye I have since found out about the f buttons for zooming, just thought the mouse wheel would be easier. All that being said. The wheel mouse on flexi doesn’t zoom in and out, it moves you up and down the page. Not sure if this can be changed ??

And Jon to answer your question if why flexi to signlabs. Main reason is recommendations from a very respected source in the sign world.

Although I must say that I am still swinging towards flexi at the moment lol

    Thanks
    Robert

You do have a particularly old version of Signlab, try the Trial download of 9.1, fully working for 10 days. You will need win XP SP3.

Thanks Rae…. Ye I did/ have downloaded that version trial. But the source that pointed me in the direction of Signlabs said to get v5 as all above had to much that aint required for what I do….design & cut, no print.

So that was the reason for that…

Is your preference Flexi then ?

No, No, No, you’ll get me fired…. I work for CADlink (Signlab), so am a little biased. One thing in the 9.1 that might be useful is the prepare to vectorise wizard, if you get a lot of images to cut.

    Oh really lol sorry

Ye the Flexi has a very good vectorzing wizard which I use a lot, infact its prob the most used feature.

    Not the whole story

in flexi mouse wheel moves up and down but hold shift now it moves side to side and hold control it now zooms in and out.

Re the debate good and bad points to both programs you pays your money and take your choice

You’ll laugh at me folks, but I still use 4.95 on a Windows 98 computer.
It’s never been connected to the internet and has always been faultless.
    I’m afraid I’m old school.. ‘If It Ain’t Broke……..

Speaking of which, I’m wanting to get another 98 pc to run another plotter……

    Ah you youngsters 😉
Still using (occasionally) my old gerber omega which is on a stone age windows 95; still trundling along . . . (We do have some slightly more modern equipment, but I really like Omega especially for outlines and shadows)

I also run Omega on a Gerber, with XP Professional, but sadly never got to actually using the programme itself, I import from my Signlab.. I know I SHOULD get to grips with the Omega, if nothing else as a back up for me, but these days.. well, you don’t learn as quick! How nice too, to be consider a ‘youngster’ although another birthday looms next week… who cares!

On my Signlab, 4.95 you zoom out with F6 and bring back to full screen with F7, I find it fine, well, for the past nearly 20 years it’s been OK for me.
