from my understanding it is possible in Versaworks 3 but you have to name the cut a different name & this will then bring up a new menu in the cut section of VW. Will have a look to see if i can get the full info for you

Rich, are you trying to do it from SL or Versaworks, they both can do it if you have the latest Versaworks.

you need to make a colour and name it PerfCut, use it as a outline and send it to Versaworks. if it works you will see the controls in Versaworks.

just make a box with a colour, then double click on the little square of the colour at the top, you can then make a new spot colour and name it.

am i right in saying you can set the pressure for perfcut and for contourcut so it does both in the same visit to the machine ?

    Sorry to dig up a really old post but I had a quick try with this today on our Sp540 running the latest versaworks and it didnt work. Can someone confirm;

    if I can do it
the name of the custom colour
if it needs to be a particular colour (i.e. magenta etc)
    line thickness (presuming hairline)

    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Hi Andy
line needs to be called PerfCutContour exactly has it is there, believe you can use any colour just convert it to a spot colour. What software are you using besides Versaworks

We’re using X4 and versaworks, I added the colour this morning but just called it "perfcut"

When I export it to eps and import into versaworks what exactly am I looking for? in terms of knowing if its correctly assigned it as perfcontourcut and setting pressures etc?

what does the perfcut setting allow you to do?

    Glen
it allows you to die cut each label/graphic leaving little tabs so they stay put whilst cutting.

If you have an up to date version of Signlab 8, you do not need to name colours to perform contour and half cut routines. If you check under Options >Signlab Setup> Postscript Setup, it should have the CutContour and PerfCutContour already listed, whenever you assign a contour to an object regardless of colour and export as level3 eps or use the Print to versaworks button it will allocate the name CutContour to the line, likewise when you create a HalfCut object.

Signlab 7.1 users will have the contour option but not the halfcut.

So does this function use the same blade and wear bar?
If so does this wear the blade quicker?

Hello Shaun, yes and I guess yes again. The only plotters I am aware of that has a different arrangement are the mimaki CG series plotters where they have a second softer cutting strip and you move the position of the blade holder. All others use the regular blade and cutting strip.
