Really smart Nigel ๐Ÿ˜€ I recognise that truck from somewhere ๐Ÿ˜‰ Jeweller’s is excellent, as is everything you’ve posted. Is the van done in avery? Like the way the planet graphic wraps around to the back on the van ๐Ÿ˜€

    Cheers, Dewi

    Thanks all… ๐Ÿ˜€

The London Camera sign pic doesn’t really do it justice, although it is a real plain layout the materials make it look quite cool i think. I used bushed aluminium dibond panels with the letters made from a dual layer of 6mm clear and 3mm dark blue acrylic overlayed. Both flame polished edges (well laser cut actually) and the clear has the look of glass on the edges…appealed to me anyway ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dewi, the Alsinet van is actually done in a mix of avery700 for the text/shadow and Hexis cast metallic for the globe grid / countries. I was a little disapointed in the conformability of the Hexis film though as it was really hard work to get it to go round the curves. But the customer wanted two different shades of silver/grey metallic and I didn’t know anyone else who did them in cast vinyl. To cap it all they only had one of the colours in 760 wide roll which is why the globe doesn’t come up as high as it could have done ๐Ÿ™„

Carrie, yes that Fisher sign was laser cut 3mm brushed stainless with brass stand-off fixings. It was a real pig to fit on that brick wall because those brass fixings have to be dead on position wise and sods law says you end up with the drill holes right on the join between bricks/motar ๐Ÿ˜ฅ so it actually took me nearly 2 hours to fit that one in the end ….. all I need now is someone to tell me it doesn’t look level ๐Ÿ˜‰

Top notch stuff mate! I really like thoseโ€ฆ
    Great designs…
    Very well fitted…
    Very well madeโ€ฆ
    Need I go on?

    I like the stainless โ€œstencil effectโ€ sign. Itโ€™s different…

Worth the hassle of getting it just right… I know exactly what you mean about bricks and locators. Hit the corner of a brick the hammer action drill shoots to one side into the cement or splits the corner of the brick. The hole is then drilled but the locator wonโ€™t sit straight. Only option is to drill slightly to the side of the first hole… do this and the drill slips into the first hole or crumbles the brick making things even worse!
    Nightmareโ€ฆ.

The jewellers sign… did you fit the overhead lights. Those are torpedo spots are they not? If they are, do they light the sign well? What i mean is the coverage. I see you have a fair amount up. Is the spread on the light good? Just being nosey mateโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜‰

again.. great work mate. thanks for taking the time to show us all… ๐Ÿ˜›

The five lights on the Jewellers are “Bullet” lights from Portland lighting – which I did fit also, to be honest I haven’t seen this sign at night yet so I can’t say for sure what the illumination is like ! I did go on the recommendations of the manufacturer as far as the overhang vs spacing of them, so with a bit of luck it should be ok ๐Ÿ˜€
Another pain in the neck to fit, after I spent 1/2hr trying to drill through a steel rsj on the other side of 14″ of concrete wall, I decided to give up and put the little sections of conduit in that you can see to feed the wire in a different place – not as neet as I would have liked but a lot quicker ๐Ÿ˜‰

    cheers,

    Nigel

2 hours what a nightmare Nigel …. but the end result looks great, really like the stencil effect of it ๐Ÿ˜€ Another question now ….. did you do it yourself?

Nice to see your work especially with it being of such a great standard! ๐Ÿ˜€

thats very nice of you Carrie ๐Ÿ˜€
I didn’t do the s/s sign myself for two reasons 1) it is too big to fit in my laser and 2) You can’t cut metals in a CO2 laser, you need a more industrial flat be YAG type laser and much as I would like one of those I don’t have space or cash to accomodate one ๐Ÿ˜‰

It was cut by New Image Signs 0191 469 8409 who charged me ยฃ120+vat for it which I didn’t think was too bad really.

    Nigel,
Your stuff always looks so clean and sharp.
    And really professional too.
    Thanks for sharing.
(I especially like the 2 “window shopping” ladies in the jewelry pic.
Are they sculpted from HDU? So realistic!)
    Love…Jill ๐Ÿ˜‰

thanks Jill ๐Ÿ˜€ the ladies are actually paper mache, I thought it would be lighter for the shop assistant to lift in and out when they are closed ๐Ÿ˜† !!

A nice variety of work Nigel, my favorites the van -nice layout

I also made a fake prop ,modelled it on Pamela Anderson but couldnt get it to stand up.
.in the end we left it laying down and cyclists used it to park their bikes
