Sign Tools 3 v’s CoCut Standard
Posted by Frank_Galloway on 7 September 2007 at 14:02ok so it’s £170 v’s £220 respectively – that’s the first difference
but just wondering if there are any users out there of one or both of these applications that could advise / recommend which is better.
The Eurosystems Cocut does look more "professional" – and so far I’ve had great feedback from their helpdesk via email – very detailed and helpful – and PROMPT !
I will probably take advantage of each of the 30day free trials and see which i prefer – but if anyone already has experience of these i would like to hear from you!
(I’m using Corel X3 and would prefer a dedicated cutting programme to link up with my plotter rather than mess about direct from X3.)
thanks for any replies
Frank.

Looking at the website the Cocut does look the better package with the ‘professional’ version looking better still, I had a demo version of signtools and it didn’t have half the ‘high end’ features CoCut has. I think they both add a tool to Corel so effectively Corel is your all in one package – if it were me I’d go for CoCut but I would ask one thing first of them, if I upgrade Corel do I need to upgrade CoCut, if so how long before the upgrade is compatible with the latest Corel and how much.

alan Dgood point ! – i will ask them that right now actually 😀

and as if to underline Eurosystem’s customer service they ahve already replied :
quote :Hi Frank,
Our upgrade steps are usually 3 Corel DRAW versions. X3 was the last upgrade step so for the next two Corel DRAW versions will be no CoCut upgrade. But you can always download the latest version free of charge at cocut.comBest Regards

I’ve asked him to confirm 100% that free downloads thereafter apply – if they do that’s pretty good isn’t it 😮

Well that doesn’t sound too bad does it, I reckon CoCut looks pretty impressive but I would go for the one that does the auto welding with overlaps. I think it is dongled but you can’t have everything.

they replied again – quick aren’t they 😀
"not all but usually the next 3 updates are free to download"
so that works out at 9 upgrades in Corel :lol1: – i think that’s fair for the price 😎

Well I have Sign Tools 3 and I think it’s great. I only wanted a plotter driver first from within Corel, but it does all the drop shadows and stuff. I can’t remember why I didn’t get Co-cut. I will try and refresh my memory.

Hi David…. £80 more expensive and doesn’t work ?
well that’s my findings so far… the Signtools3 application worked 1st time.. (after i got the correct NULL modem cable 😳 ) but i still can;t get Co-cut to work 👿
now the people at Co-cut are not replying so i know eher my hard earned is going…. will be Registering/activating in the next day or so.
Good to hear a fellow member who is pleased with it 😀
I’ll be joining you! -
Yes Frank something like that as I remember. 🙂
You will find Asigns good to deal with. They sent me the full boxed product, in the meantime they email you your serial number so you can register the demo and use it instantly.
I am sure their are other users of Sign Tools 3 on here? -
canny beat cocut pro its a doddle to use one click from corel draw and your in cocut and away and cutting without any fuss what so ever
but as they say each to there own

which is exactly the same as Signtools3 😉
My issue with Co-Cut was I was unable to get it to cut / communicate with my Roland plotter… whereas the Signtools3 application worked 1st time without hitch…
Co-cut "support" were less than helpful in their replies – just the usual "you must have the wrong baud rates set"… even though i explained, cut and pasted my settings to show them – and undelined the fact that the settings worked fine and 1st time with SignTools3.
2 emails since and not a word from them…
just my experience… so it was obvious which system to choose in the end (for me anyway)
