  • Siglab or gerber or foil problem?

I seem to be having a problem printing spot gradients with my edge 2.
Its a bit difficult to describe, but when the solid colour starts to fade, its like the printer is putting to much foil down. the dots are not uniform and seem to be randomly filled. Some of the exess foil lifts of with the app tape, but not all . I have tried different halftone paterns, but the problem although sometimes not as bad, remains. Now this is the strange bit. Most off the foils I use are genuine gerber. but I tried the same print with a print one foil, and the gradient fill was almost perfect.

Any suggestions before I ring cadlink and gerber?

    Morning Peter,

Have you tried altering the settings for the foil in the set-up in gsp plot?

Try making them lighter in the normal print mode.

    Regards

I used to have a similar problem with only 1 shade of Gerber blue. Didn’t happen with Printone foils. It improved when I printed shorter lengths so I think too much heat may have been the answer. Try going lighter as Dave suggests.

    Thanks lads,
Ill try lowering the temp, it is happening on all the four colours I tried, but most on the blue.
