  • Shutting printer down for 2-3 weeks

Hi, my printer is a Mutoh Rockhopper II variant.

I need to shut the printer down for a 2-3 week period, and also later in the year 3 weeks (might even extend to 1 month) – I don’t trust anyone I know to regularly come in and run a metre or so every couple of days and no-one knows the little idiosyncrasies to stop head strikes, cleaning etc…

    I’m using Nadzar LWS1300 solvent/ecosolvent inks.

I realised just now I don’t have enough time to call the service tech out to shut the printer down so how can I do this myself to minimise the risk of clogged heads when I get back?

I was thinking along the lines of:
    1) shut printer down normally & disconnect from mains
    2) raise head manually & move out the way
    3) clamp lines between the capping station and pumps using small bulldog clips
    4) fill caps with solvent cleaner (nadzar solvent) & make sure they don’t drain
    5) move head back and lower to seal
    6) tweek capping station up to ensure seal

The chap that had the printer before me said something along the lines of removing the dampers and sucking clear solvent up from the pumps through the caps – but I’d been barraged with information by that point and couldn’t remember exactly if that is what he’d said and how to do it!

    Thanks in advance.
    Chris
