shop signage: kc’s express
Posted by Stephen Ingham on 2 June 2005 at 21:03Hi all, another quick one, another job recently completed
this was a little more complex, when i visited the customer they had no real idea what they wanted, except that the signs had to be red, to match the new shop front.
so we manufactured 3 dibond trays (2 either side and main sign) then we made the oval out of 5mm forex built up to approx 20mm thick, which was applied to the main sign using VHB tape
we also supplied and fitted the trough lights
the trays i found were pretty easy to make, the mistake i think we made was that we made a frame out of 2×1 timber to mount the trays to, i think in future we would use 1×1 alli angle instead
customer was very happy with the sign, and his customers were commenting how well his shop looked, so he had a big grin
cheers

nice job done there stephen!! 😛
const. crits. the left “off licence” made smaller to fit. same with the kc’s and i would have dropped the coma…and used a bullet to suit layout!! 😀
also the ‘s in kc’s is a tad small and not in proportion with the rest of the layout 😉it’s okay you have permission to shoot me on site!! 😀

quick update on the above sign job
the customer decided that he wanted some photos etc putting on vinyl and applying to the window
the customer decided in his infinate wisdom to source the prints from a third party who doesn’t fit so we got the pleasure.
there were a few problems with the print, colour variations etc and some bubbles were it had been over laminated with the white vinyl, but it was pointed out to the customer and “not our problem”
anyway looks great, best shop in the village now
cheers

Must say that ties the whole thing together the white trough light and the white at the bottom of the window, makes the window look a lot neater as well…nice one
