Now I know its a bit of a boring fascia but when I did it I only had about 2m of black vinyl left, so not to waste any i put the letters individually.

I’d put the gallery on and was just starting the lazboy, working backwards. I’d just put the ‘boy’ on….. a guy walked passed and said ‘ I hope thats gonna say PLAYBOY mate’, it beats the usual ‘hey, you’ve spelt that wrong’….at least it made me laugh!

    I guess everyone gets that don’t they?….you’ve spelt that wrong..ha ha !

…I remember missing the H out of Southport once, it was my first ‘foriegner’ I was only about 20. When I took my girlfriend passed to show her, as you do, she said ‘you’ve missed the H out’ I thought she was joking at first but no, there it was Southport on one side of the van and Soutport on the other! Some turps and a soft rag put it right, I think it was going dark as I was finishing…eeeh them were the days.!

There’s not much chance of spelling mistakes now though is there..???. [/i]

…that reminds me I mast remember to use the spall chick! 😕

Looks neat, how long did it take you to put the job together using individual letters? Would it have worked out cheaper to buy in extra vinyl and put the job up in one hit?

It took about an hour or so. I’ve not been working for myself for that long and competition is quite fierce here so the job looking right was more important to me than how long it took. Er, hope it does look ok…

The blue is painted on, the guy wanted an exact match to his woodwork.
    The fascia is wooden.

I was just passing the shop when it was being painted, called in and ended up doing the job. Quite a good idea for me cos I ended up doing another shop, a removal van and another sign in the pipeline. 🙂

well done. Must say I think like Jayne. Individual letters sounds like the hard way to me. Looks good tho.

I know what you say about spelling errors, I did an instruction sign for a theme park, and spelt a word wrong that no one noticed for nearly 7 years. Proves people don’t read ‘instructions’ on the rides I reckon.

Another job I did, the clients signed off on the artwork, and I installed the signs, everyone was happy. I went back 2 months later, just calling in to say hello, and noticed I had spelt ‘with’ as ‘wth’. No one noticed, so I went back later in the week, and changed it without saying a word. No one was any the wiser.

I can give you a few more examples too, but I’ll get embarassed 😳

Don’t talk to me about ‘I’s…..I remember working for a sports sponsorship company doing all sorts of televised stuff, rugby, football, athletics etc..
It was all deadline stuff and usually done late into the night, usually in a mad panic, ready for the match on a Saturday.

I remember us doing a one off JVC video sign for the corner of the pitch, right under the scoreboard….the video was spelt with an I instead of an E, nobody noticed until the day and then there it was plain as day on Tv for everyone to see.

It was a local derby game at Anfield … I can remember that after about 10 minutes someone must have noticed cos a policeman stood right infront of the I for the rest of the match.

Thinking about it, the guy who taught me to signwrite did a local fruit shop but missed the I out by mistake.
It turned out well cos he wrote the caption..I always keep an ‘I’ out for my customers! The shop owner thought it was great stuff!!
