  • Searching…. Is it just me??

Posted by Lorraine Buchan on December 24, 2003 at 1:02 am

I contacted Rob to tell him that i could only access the first page of search results and that when i clicked on next or any page number it comes up with ‘there are no topics that match your search criteria’ or words to that effect.

Rob says it’s working fine for him, so i was wondering if anyone else had the same problem or if it’s just me??

I’ve just tested the search engine with a search on “green” which brought up 233 results (should be 234 now ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and it all seems to work okay Lorraine. Must be the Xmas pixies at work in your PC again (disolve) ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Cheers, Dewi

Rarely has any piece of software been “cheap”. They seem to price it on what they feel the market will stand (whatever that means).

Check out the cost of say Paint Shop Pro and Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Design Suite and Quark, MS Office and Lotus Smart Suite, and even dare I say Windows and Linux

In the end you get what you pay for in my view.

We had this problem as well on AOL, we just presumed it was because we hadn’t got access to all areas, but we have just swapped over to Broadband with BT and it works properly.

I’m still using AOL 6 – so maybe it is related to AOL

Phil, I think it must be related to AOL, I have tried it with both AOL and ie6 and on AOL got the same results as you and with ie6 things were fine.
As you know I use AOL to log on and then minimise it and open up ie6 as I prefer to use it.

Aahhh seems to be a pattern forming. Phewโ€ฆ thought it was maybe more board related. I’ll see what we can do from this end.
I never knew about this before, but while I was in England working for I stopped into a service station for my daily fix of the boards..
I was very surprised at how odd the site looked. Everything in place of course, but colours slightly different. Borders round boxes missing etc..

It is very possible for your problems to be associated with AOL software.

AOL, the way I understand things is not a true ISP, they are what is known as a content provider, with internet access.

Basically AOL provide a number of services that are accessible to its members little like CompuServe if there still around. AOLโ€™s provided software is geared to ensure that their content is best viewed over their network, donโ€™t get me wrong itโ€™s a bloody big network.

It is also my understanding, from experience in the business and just looking at my web logs that AOL cache pages of the net. If you use Martins method of minimising the AOL software then opening a fresh browser screen, this should be overcome.

    Hope that helps someone.

I have version 8 of AOL the latest I believe
    ..and it still does it!

So as you say, maybe ISP related
