Rules for Signs attached to Road Signs
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question, i have a client from a golf club that wishes to attach some directional signs to road signs in the area to direct people to the club.
Now does he have to have some kind of permision for this and also do the signs have to be the brown road signs that usually indictate leisure facilities?

You need planning permission to attach anything to street furniture, and it will cost to apply for it as well. It doesn’t have to be brown, any colour can be used but avoid brown and yellow/black and blue/white as brown is for heritage sites, yellow/black is AA signage and blue white is RAC signage and both the latter are usually for special events or housing projects and are temporary.

make them for him but let him put them up,
chances are that he will not get anything said to him, if he does he will have 7 days to take them down before they remove them

If he does put anything up tell him its got to be 2.1 mtrs from the base of the sign to the ground or he’s open the claims if anyone walks into them.
