Rotating sign mechanism. help needed?

I wasn’t sure if i should post this or just keep google’n it… but thought it might be a good idea as someone may have had experience in this sort of thing or at least know of proper searching terms.

I have been basically given the task of coming up with a feature/sign for the (exterior) entry area to a new building for an existing customer, using their logo.
anyway, something i am toying with is to have the logo slowly rotating on a single post. the logo itself will be 3 dimensional and about 10-15ft high.
what i am looking for is a source for the rotating mechanism, turntable sort of thing, that the logo will be mounted on. the logo will have an in interior frame with stainless shell. so there will be a bit of weight behind it.

any ideas on a source for the rotation mechanism?

do you mean signtrade as in the moulded letter supplier john?

mike, had a look on their site mate but don’t see them. do you have a link for them on that site?

i think my problem is going to be getting one that will hold the weight of the logo i want to have rotating. I’m guessing 10-15ft high logo and made from coloured, polished stainless steel. so it will be a fair weight, but i think as long as i get the right supplier it shouldn’t be a problem for them.
the link nick has posted looks promising… hope their prices are good. 😀

to give a better idea of the rotating sign.
here is a picture of the Scotland yard sign. as you know it rotates.
instead of a triangular box i would like to mount approx 10ft high 3-dimensional logo. obviously everything will scale up… its also going to be a more attractive than the Scotland yard sign. but similar idea… 😀

Rob, sorry no link only got a catalogue. I think they also do turntables that will take cars, so may be worth getting a catalogue or give them a ring.

can imagine that powering the unit will need to be considered and how they turn it off.
i see a large clock work mechanism atm… hispeed motor reduced to slow speed cog

Have a word with Ken Lober as Russell Signs…they do a lot of this type of work see http://www.russellsigns.co.uk/?sMenu=working-m … mb=0&iAt=1 lots of great stuff on his site but the link shows an example of a rotating sign (holding full scale cars).
