Just seen a demo (dvd) of the William Smith Rolls Roller application machine and wondered if any of you had seen one in action – if so what did you think of it.
It looks a little cumbersome to me but it is definitely a good idea (given the amount of prints that end up in the skip at our place).

There is a website with a demo on I think but we were sent a disc.

I meant the William Smith website really (didn’t know it existed on this one). I did a search of the boards before posting and didn’t come up with anything.

    Is it any good then?

i saw it at signuk last year and it was as it is shown in the video… pretty straight forward to operate and very good results. like anything, practice makes perfect and i know the women using it has done for some time.
ive heard glowing reports based on it from several suppliers, but they would say that of course… that said, ive heard of sign firms buying in a second rolls roller, so that in itself says something.
i personally think it will really do away with alignment problems for board mounts, as well as application tape etc
the biggest downside i see is the space it will take up.

Cheers Rob – we are thinking of buying one but I really want to see one in action first. Do you know if there will be one at the show this year?

i think they are colin, go to http://www.signuk.com and you should be able to see a list of exhibitors as well as a download for the floor plan.

Thanks for that, Rob – wasn’t going to go this year but might make the effort if they are there to demonstrate

    :lol1: colin
i have just opened a letter from wm smith in my mail and the first on the list on show at the stand is the rolls roller, says demonstrations will be run throughout the day. Stand j40… also celebrating 175th birthday with free champaign etc :lol1:

in my opinion the show is the best time to get a good discount…

Just seen it in action at Sign UK today, looks fantastic!

They applied vinyl onto a large piece of Foamboard (not sure of the size looked about 2m x 1m) in a matter of minutes with just one person doing it.
