    Hi
If you pause the video you can get some clues, the carts look like regular Eco-sol type, doubled up, 2x magenta, 2x black etc. looks a chunky unit but doesn’t appear to have any banks of visible cooling fans as you see on the HP and Mimaki latex, but there does seem to be an overhead post heater and extended platten, again probably heated – both for faster drying of Eco-solvent I’m guessing?

My vote is just more of the same, print only, but lots faster.

Not long to wait to find out though. If it is latex then that might shake things up a bit. Is it me or have then been a lot of features on ink in the trade mags over the last couple of months – do they already know something but are under non-disclosure? It’s a conspiracy !

    Cheers
    Macky

    Guys,

if your not fussed about the ability to print white and metallic than you wouldn’t go wrong waiting for the XF.

Rumors are that it has staggered heads rather than inline heads making this quite possibly the fastest roll to roll printing machine on the market. My sources of information I would like to think are trusted don’t want to disclose to much as I wouldn’t want to get anyone in trouble.

I want to see the XR640 but was told by the company selling it to wait for this beast.

I do not know anything about the New Roland machine but if they have moved to latex i hope it is also a problem solver. HP latex machines are fantastic and the quality coming out them is excellent, they have so many uses and a vehicle wrappers dream bit of kit to be armed with. however, i still don’t see it as the best all rounder for the sign maker due to media restrictions etc. still a great bit of kit and i would like one, but for now that’s about it, ide like one, not need one. :lol1:

Roland seem to have taken their print and cut machines and continued to evolve them. wider, faster, white and metallic ink options… the list goes on.
the machines really do go from strength to strength. I have no doubt the new "Beast" model will be a fantastic addition.
this teaser advert comes out just at the right time too as we have Sign & Digital Exhibition as well as the mighty FESPA exhibition approaching. it gives us all food for thought and the prospect of seeing it in action at one of the shows before making a purchase.

Roland has confirmed to me as much as they can it’s not latex and its a print only not print and cut.

I have also been advised it may not be made available with the new Light Black ink or white but it will have staggered print heads which will allow much faster print speeds could be a very nice machine for high volume print.

In the end we purchased the XR640 8 colour CMYK Lc Lm with light Black and White inks and an Easymount 1600 single hot laminator and are now looking forward to getting it. We have also just secured a new bigger unit which we take over on 1st May. Look out for a lot of changes with the extra production capabilities we will have that will come to light soon.
