  • Roland VP 540 issue, help please?

Hello people, seems I only ever post when somethings wrong and I want to break something. I am running a Roland VP 540 with versaworks and signlab 8. On Friday of last week I was printing a job and the printer got part way through, paused and performed a clean, carried on for a little while, the did the same a further 3 times before the end of the print. I havent knowingly changed any settings and its becoming very annoying as when it pauses it leaves a banded print. Can anyone please help with suggestions of why this is happening before I get sacked for fixing it with a hammer? Thanks in advance

Maybe dampers have had a chance to fill / equalize the pressure during the pause so put down a teenie-weenie bit more ink when re-started.

I saw this on a customers printer on Friday as it happens. I have heard (but have no evidence) that Roland have introduced a new ‘feature’ whereby it will clean every few hundred mm if you’re running third party inks. It seem to have come about since a Versaworks update. Again, I’m not saying this is definitely the case but if you have updated yours recently, it might be more than a coincidence.

    Let us know the results.
