    HI.

Just experienced a small problem with the printed yesterday, had few issues like it before but always manage to correct but since yesterday whatever I try does not seem to work, so I am not sure if I am missing anything.

I print stickers using custom roll, so approx 1340 x 150 mm print and cut and repeat and repeat the process.

So since yesterday, I my cut is little off so right side of machine cut is more to the right of a sticker in scan direction

Middle in the print is correct
Left side of a printer cut is more to the left side of a print.

I did clean yesterday encoder strip with IPA, and will give a rollers a clean today as well, but it does not seem like its a problem down to rollers as its in a scan direction that I am not too happy with.

I am not sure if wort to order new rollers and getting them replaced and possibly a brand new encoder ? but they are nearly 200£ so would rather try other possibilities before I fork cash on it.

I did look into service mode If I can correct some stuff but not much I can find that could correct it, also to note when I did a print and cut test print (3 squares) they are also slightly off like mentioned with the prints above, is there any setting that I could correct each square individually instead of as a whole ?

    Any ideas guys ?

My machine (Roland sp300) has developed a similar fault over time. Cutting drifts off in the scan direction but is OK if I always print crop marks causing the machine to read the crop marks every time before going on to do the cut after printing. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi.

Yes we also have no problem when comes to using crop marks function it works acceptable well when up speed and cut speed is at decent speed so, but takes so much time specially having to print them and then wait for it to be read when many prints are done on unlaminated so they supposed to be just print and cut and then when sheet is approx 80 cm long in printed labels we cut off to cut into smaller pieces (shipping sizes)

If we are forced to use crop marks function the production time would nearly increase 1/3 in time

Any other ideas of what we should do in settings to possibly improve or what to possibly clean ?

What is yours routine to adjust print and cut guys ?

    Thanks in advance

Seemingly it’s not the encoder strip that controls the cutter function. Scroll down to the bottom of this thread for definitive advice from Stafford Cox:- topic66083.html

Had a similar cutting issue with my pro 4 recently, new cable & guides sorted instantly, might be worth investigating. Incidentally I was always told to clean the encoder strip with a slightly damp tissue, never a solvent as its technically a printed bar code & you run the risk of damaging the lines in the barcode, don’t know if that’s true or my engineer made it up. Had an encoder strip issue on a pro 3 last week & he told me to order a new one. Being tight as a gnats chuff & not having two days to wait for a new one, I removed it, washed it with warm soapy water & dried it. Works perfectly

We had this on one of our xr640’s we cleaned the pinch rollers with IPA and used a tooth brush and IPA to clean the grit rollers that solved the problem for us

    Hi.

Hi Kevin, could you tell me more about the cable & guides I would look up the part number to see if can replace myself.

Lee, Yes I am starting to think this is the rollers issue, I had a cut at 14 and slowed it down to 7 and it improved much better also calibrated the print and cut in scan direction so now its much more acceptable. Just to make sure I will also be ordering brand new Roland rollers to replace the existing ones, so can cut little bit quicker if I can.

    Thanks

I removed all of the casings & then chickened our I’m afraid. If the engineer breaks it, he replaces it
