Roland Vehicle wrapping course is it any good?
Posted by Graeme Speirs on December 7, 2007 at 10:52 amgot an email flyer in about a course at walsall college run by rolland, cost not bad at £550 for 2 day course on various dates? anyone heard of or been on this? I do vehicle graphics, pretty much self taught and thought this could be good for opening new doors as I currently tend to shy away from this type of work, even partial wraps? all advice appreciated.

I’m also very keen to hear about this course, more so now in light of recent posts making grafiwrap look like an unsuitable material for us to use… anyone out there done the wrapping course at Walsall?
-
I am really interested in doing a wrap course in the new year, as picking up tips has to be a good thing.

hi all
Ive been to walsall twice now, once was not good and the last time was great, had a look around the wraping course and it looks great!, if your interested and we can get a group of 6 of us together, we can get a big discount on it, facilities and tools a great, they wrap brand new smart cars or a class mercs. I would love to go so if we can get 5 more next date is in feb
Ian -
I’m very likely to be interested, just need to confirm dates with the chief!
-
Are you thinking the 6/7 or 27/28th? I think I’m going to be ok for either to be honest. Dave we could maybe share transport? Not sure how I plan on getting there yet though!
Gavin
-
As far as I understand it there is no problem to post prices on here.
-
Mods can edit if needed
But if we get a group booking of 6 we the cost is 375 plus vat for 2 days, which considering the facilities is, i think great value
IanPS Food is great Too!
-
ill come with you guys ive been up there twice and the facilities are grate.
count me in 😀 -
book for me and one other. just let me know the dates, and how we should pay. if thats okay.

Cheryl, after seeing your work, I reckon you should be teaching it!!
Peter

Thank you Peter,
after doing a few of these, I hope to find some tips, I have had a couple of problems and had to re apply and would like to know what I could do better. I generally apply dry, but this week found the mini bonnet easier applied a bit wet, and reading various posts about thermometers and various tools, It has to be only wise to move with the times….coming with me to the course is the guy who actually prints my vinyl for me, to see what we should be doing in the way of a prep and fit area as well as manufacture and fit, so it would be real handy to see how others do it.
I have attached pics of problem areas. Cheryl -
Hi All
What is the latest news on the group for this course, is it full? I am interested if there is a place open.
Cheers
Warren
-
hi all
Spoke to walsall about going on the course on the 6th of feb, they said it would be great to have us, If anyone is realy intrested PM me and we can get a good group together
IanPS need to get the names in asap, if there is more than 6 they said they will not take more than 6 on a course but will open up other dates
-
Hi Ian
Do you know what is included in the costs regarding accommodation and food and stuff? I just need to check budget but really do want to go if we can get 6 of us together.
Cheers
Warren
-
Cost is 350 plus VAT for 2 days with mid day meal included, accommodation is from 45 per night
course includes not only fitting but how to lay the design out and the printing of them. but the emphasis is on the practical side of fitting.
Look forward to it
Ian -
Errmm, I can’t PM. Should be able to confirm before lunch today though if there are still places?
Gavin
-
Can’t see a problem Gavin, but need your contact details
Ian -
I’ve sorted this out directly with Tony for the price mentioned. Just as few last things to tie up – should see you all there. Who’s going?
G
-
Gavin
Did Tony mention to you that all the places on the 9th are gone now, what he did say though is that he would give board members exclusive date of the 18th and 19th march, but we would all need to confirm by end of next week. So if anyone is interested it would be great to meet you all
Ian -
I am still keen so I will have a space, am I right to say it is now going to be in March?
Cheers
Warren
-
Yep its now in march as two from sign express and two signarama took the places and the other date in Feb is cancelled as the instructor is in china fitting over there. but tony gave march to any UK sign boards members that next date at the discounted price if we let him know by the end of next week
There is another idea he had about last minuet bookings but I would like to clear this with Rob
Ian
-
I can’t PM you but I am defo in for that. Sounds great!
Karl.
-
Where do we go from here? How do we book and when do we pay?
Karl.
-
Will get the names together and give them Tony and then we each pay our own direct to the collage at the same price, if there is more of us than places he is willing to give us this price on the next dates too
Ian -
Just to make sure then

18th & 19th March. Do we book direct or are you doing a group booking?
-
book it direct, but you must mention the boards, as they have saved this date for us
ian -
I have booked myself in for the 26th/27th March, sorry if this causes any confusion but my wife is working away on the 17th/18th so I can’t make it.
-
I have booked in for 18/19 March, anyone else yet?
-
quote Chris Windebank:I have booked in for 18/19 March, anyone else yet?
Me too, just booked 18/19th
-
Once you book with them they will email you a booking for and course information, you need to advise them if you are paying by cheque of card. I would presume you would have to pay soon after you fax back the filled in booking form.
I only got the email today so still need to send it back.
Cheers
Warren
-
Not sure, have to give tony a call, think you pay just before you go but don’t quote me on that
Ian -
