Roland sp540-i test print problem
Posted by Nathan Hill on 16 July 2012 at 09:28I am having problems getting a test print right. I seem to be missing lines on the black. I also get some banding on prints and presume this is the cause. I have done numerous cleans including powerful clean and a manual clean but can’t seem to get these two lines back. Any Ideas.

one black missing and a few deflecions may not be your banding although it would be nice to be perfect. how old are the heads ?
a soak in cleaning fluid may help but i have never found that much use. power cleans should only be done as a last resort as it uses a lot of ink and makes the pump do a lot of work and again rarly does better than a normal one.

Thanks chris. The machine is only 18 months old and normally a manual clean would sort any missing lines. I will try the calibration to see if that helps with the banding.

have you ever had it serviced or fitted new wipers and capping stations.
the black head is always the first to show these problems.
when you clean the head manually clean away the sludge that forms on the wipers aswell -
Not had it serviced yet but have replaced the wipers about 6 months ago. Gonna Show my ignorance now but I’m not sure what the capping stations are. I presume the stations the heads sit on when not in use. If so I clean all around these, and GENTLY wipe the sponges, when I perform a manual clean as per the instruction manual. Does a service usually include new capping stations? Thanks for your help It is much appreciated.

I would try putting a syringe in place of the pump and try pulling through with that. Don’t go too mad with it as you may split a damper but give it just enough of a pull to get the juices flowing again 😮 😮 😳

I agree with Chris, i wouldnt worry about it so much. may even come back 100% after some large print jobs. ide be amazed if this was the cause of banding. maybe the feed calibration thats causing the banding.
