    Hi,

My name is Jon Stephens and I work for a general and commercial printers in Yorkshire. We have several litho presses, some Xerox j75’s for digital print and a couple of Epsons for printing posters etc. We recently bought a 2nd user Roland RS-640 VersaArt 64" Eco Solvent printer to allow us to print our own banners and displays (as we were sending a lot out and pricing was getting a bit too high for our clients). It has run perfectly fine for a few weeks then suddenly it stopped printing yellow half way through a banner. I have tried all the different cleaning functions and also manually cleaned the machine – this helps a little then yellow drops out again – nozzle check shows an improvement in the yellow that varies on each test print (I have attached a couple photos to show this). From what I can see on forums it sounds like an air leak?

With this in mind I have ordered new dampers and cap heads to replace, unfortunately I have never attempted this before and I was hoping some nice people on here may be able to give me some guidance as to the procedure?

    Thanks in advance

    Jon Stephens

I’ve done it myself years ago. Easy to do.

Although be careful not to snap the nipple the damper fixed too, it’s easily done.

Cap changes are easy enough, just watch the spring underneath them.

Thanks… I have of course snapped the nipple! where did you get a replacement from?

Not sure, try Digi-Print supplies, make sure it’s an OEM one. I think we had an engineer come out and they fixed it, from memory the print head needs to come out to replace the nipple.

    Thanks,

Got the new manifold coming on monday – we will have a go at fitting it ourselves and hope for the best.
