Roland DG Partners with RGBuk to Accelerate Growth in the Photographic and Fine Art Sectors.
Roland DG has announced the appointment of a new dealer to its network. Based in Wokingham and with a nationwide reach, RGBuk is one of the UK’s leading large format and digital printing solutions providers, specialising in the photographic, fine art, production and CAD/GIS sectors.

Roland DG to offer pre-launch demo of RIP software at Sign & Digital UK.
Roland DG (UK) Ltd will offer visitors to Sign & Digital UK the opportunity to see pre-launch demonstrations of a powerful new RIP and print management solution for Mac OS X operating systems. This ground breaking application will be driving the SOLJET Pro 4 XR-640 printer/cutter live on the main Roland stand throughout the three days of the show. Described as the perfect counterpart to VersaWorks, Roland’s highly successful PC-based RIP, the new program is a full 64bit Mac application that incorporates the very latest Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE). The APPE works with native pdf files quickly and accurately throughout the entire RIP – Print – Cut process. Thereby increasing overall production speeds and eliminating problems often associated with layers and transparencies. The exceptionally intuitive user interface boasts some of the most advanced workflow tools and colour management controls on the market. The multitasking environment allows users to RIP, print and cut to multiple devices simultaneously. Hot folders, job queue presets, automated true shape nesting and advanced tiling utilities all contribute to this easy to use but incredibly productive workflow solution for Mac based businesses.
Included in the new RIP software are industry standard colour libraries and comprehensive spot colour matching functionality. At no extra cost, there is also an embedded profiling module to enable operators to create custom ICC profiles that deliver consistently accurate colour reproduction whilst optimising ink consumption. spoke to someone at roland at show today and they said may be a month or so till release but only works with certain new machines at the momentas its the 1.0 version but will be new updates soon hopefully for older machines, i run a xc540 pro111 and only work with macs (except pc that runs versa works and i run team viewer on that straight from mac so i don’t have to use it lol), i have seen it in action today and i think it may have a price point of around £1000 for the software plus training on it as very different from versa works, but on a plus point it runs so so so smoothly through the mac 😀 😀 😀 with no delays or waiting for something to work lol, also has drag and drop for artwork and lots of other good points, well worth the investment just to be able to run all from mac, also will run 2 macs on same system, hope info helps.

Shaun I can’t wait. I know people will be like you can do it all free in versaworks and on a PC but I know from "my experience only" that over 20 years macs NEVER CAUSED ME ISSUES I started with PCs and feel macs run more logically. I am prepared to fork out the extra for the new software the new interface is clean elegant and I bet you will pick up instantly. Versaworks is fantastic but I want to keep my operating systems the same for personal reasons before I get the usual onslaught of PC fans ready to stone me. I am a PC user also and will continue to be but wish I didn’t have to.
Some of the new features are promising too. Hopefully will come soon. Would have been nice if it was free like versaworks bit unfair bit hey ho
