hi guys, bit of advice needed if possible, I’m looking to buy a stand alone cutter to run along side my roland xc540 pro111 and would like to know best one to go for, on the one hand graphtec has great tracking ability (up to 15 metres) and is a good solid brand and machine and then theres the ROLAND CAMM-1 PRO GX SERIES which from what I’ve read it recognises the roland versa works print and cut marks? (am i right on this?) , could do with some advice on this if anyone has experience on this, many thanks in advance.

I have run Roland Print & Cut and Cut only machines for about 18+ years now, you cannot knock them. Very reliable robust machines… So you will not go wrong there…

We also have 2 Graphtec cutters. again excellent machines.
Graphtec are excellent fast reliable machines, been running them 10-12 years and really put them through their paces daily. We have replaced them twice with newer models. then a third just recently.

If I am honest, I reckon i would go with the Roland based on your setup requirements. Roland Cutter & Roland Printer keeps the compatibility true.

"You are a UKSG member" and Printmax are official UKSG suppliers of Roland and Mimaki http://www.printmax.co.uk/ so it would be advantageous for you to contact them. However, if it is the Graphtec route you prefer, please contact Chris@uksignboards.com and he will get you a contact at Graphtec.

    Hi

I use a Roland Camm-1 pro 30" cutter with a roland printer and versaworks.
The cutter is very good generally and the alignment between the printer and cutter is very good and most of the time is better than the printers own alignment.
But there is one niggle with the Roland cutter, it doesn’t pre feed vinyl, so when you are cutting normal vinyl using a cut program other than Rolands own you need to hand feed the vinyl first or you get an axis error as the cutter tries to roll off the vinyl at cut speed.
I’ve asked Roland about it but never heard back from them regarding this.

As I said the cutter is very good so other than this problem I’ve found mine to be reliable and easy to use.
