We are currently having a strange problem with Roland ColorRIP – every job we send to print is being clipped off. This started when we sent over a circular print 710 dia. We assumed it was a vinyl width issue in the settings but then we discovered that it is doing the same no matter what the print size is (different files).
I am thinking the software needs re-installing but it could be a setting that we are missing.

    Any ideas?

If you send over a circle it will end up with a flat side (right side of image / far side of print as it sits on printer)

does it show it cropped in the rip? usually you get lines cutting across it to let you know the media is not wide enough?

That’s the weird thing. In the RIP preview it looks ok. After you rip the job and go to the queue / layout view it is cropped off (it prints as it looks too).

I am baffled by this but I think the software has been corrupted.

I use SHIRAZ for our larger printer but you can’t get profiles for the Versacam so I use colorRIP or Signlab for print and cut jobs (up to now no problems).

    Thanks

the only thing i can think of is that when you ripped the files the pinch rollers were set wider then you ripped the files then put smaller vinyl in or you base pointed the vinyl and the base point is still set on the machine itself???

    Thanks for your help.

I don’t really use the software on a day to day basis myself because I tend to do all my printing through Shiraz on a different printer.

I noticed that a print which should have been a perfect round had a flat edge and we have been trying to solve it ever since.

Because the file size was close to the maximum width we figured it was putting margins in or it had the wrong width info.

I have removed then re-installed the software and it’s still doing it.

There is a setting for EPS files which is something like EPS margin. If this is set too high it could make it think the image its printing is wider than the vinyl. If you’re not printing EPS files this won’t help!
