Last week I decided to load Windows 7 64bit on my PC at work. I use Win7 at home and really enjoy the interface, plus the added bonus of being able to use the full 4Gb RAM (instead of 3.2Gb on Win XP).

All went well until I tried to get the vinyl cutter to work…
The cutter? A Roland CAMM-1 PNC-960 on Parallel!

After swearing, cussing and cursing the PC and cutter to eternal damnation I decided the Internet should have the solution I’ve been looking for.
    It didn’t. (:)

    That was Friday.

On Monday, all fresh and happy, I took on the problem again.
Google can be helpful if you ask the right questions… 🙄

I searched the Roland product line to find a cutter with similar specs to my own.
I then checked the drivers for each of them for a version compatible with Windows 7 64bit.
The best match? Roland CAMM-1 GX-24.

I’ve tweaked the settings of the cutter to eliminate all the ‘fancy’ features of the more up to date cutter and TAA-DAAH! the PNC-960 works.

    — The only issue I have is after cutting the little error light flashes on the PNC-960 instead of not flashing… 🙄

This fix might, I stress – might, work for other cutters without 64bit drivers.

Hi, my CAMM-1 PNC-1000A works with GX-24 driver too. After driver installation, a reboot is necessary. Before running your machine you should set the paper size in your printer properties, example for PNC-1000A paper size is 1600mmx465mm. Important note for COREL users: each cutting object must have an outline with 0,001mm (F12)… These settings work very well in 64bit windows7. All the best in your work.

    Hello from Croatia!!! :smiles:

I have the same cutter and the same problem, tried the method you described but cannot get my PNC-960 to work with my windows 7 64 bit.

Could you please explain in more details how did you get it to work, what settings did you tweak to get it running?

I tried almost every available option, but no luck at all. Test connection works, the head moves, and that’s it. When I cut from Roland Cut Studio, it only blocks my windows spooler, and I have to reset it to be able to try again. :awkward:

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards,

    Nedzad
