Here we go, a bit self indulgent but I wanted to get my first sign on here for the history books. Two 8′ x 4′ Reynobond boards to make up one big silly size sign. Well it’s big to me, I never really wanted to get into stuff this size to be honest, but my mate who designed it kept on at me so I just gave him a silly price and he went for it. Great I thought, then the boards arrived at my house. Ouch. Im not set up for this sort of thing, so clear out some space in the front room and the board fit just right. Use one of the removable arms from the sofa to protect my knees and bad back here I come!!

I did the first board dry, what a nightmare. Having read its the best way to go if you can do it I thought just jump in, I can only get better. Well then I thought I would do the second one wet, just to see the difference. For someone as clumsy as me it was perfect, I could move the vinyl into position. OK it was messy and soggy, but it gave me the confidence to do something like this. I even re-did a couple of bits from the first one that were all bubbly.

Anyway ramble, blah blah. I had to take these two panels down to Uxbridge, no problem hire a van long enough to take them. All was well until I tried to do a U turn out of a height restricted entrance at a Focus store, I hit a metal post dead centre of the van. Ooops, so if you live in Yiewsly (someone must do) and you go to the big Currys, that bent metal post out the front was me. Dont tell them though, its bad enough I did £1000 of damage to the van. 😮 Thank god for insurance, only cost me £100 in lost deposit.

Im still blah blah arent I. Anyway here are photo’s of my first big sign being done in my house. I have an understanding missus, she’s great.

Bloody cats kept walking on it though, grrrrrr. Hairs.

not sure about the missing dot on the first i in finish but I’m sure it’s just part of the design.

Now thats irony for you! You design, app and fit a crash repair services sign and in the process, crash your vehicle! 😆 😆

Fantastic sign Liam! 😀 Still can’t believe its your first! 😮 😮 The main thing is its done, you’re a signmaker and you’re guarenteed not to get anymore cat hairs on it now its up on the wall 😉 😉

    Cheers, Dewi

    Nice Job Liam.
From someone who has been doing signs
on my diningroom table since 1985.
I like the colors. Maybe consider buying a pick-up truck?
I have a garage too, but as we all know it is the domain
of my sloppy 20-year-old son. But my truck is MINE.
    Love…Jill

    Thanks for the feedback!
I know what you mean about the missing dot, I was all set to re-cut the i again when I realised thats the way he set it up. The dot has been eaten by the ‘F’. Strange when someone else supplies graphics to you, everyone has their own way I suppose.
