I made our first tray using SMP 50mm return extrusion ally, powder coated in white A few people expressed an interest a while ago, so here is a picture.

It was easy to use, and I used Evostick serious stuff for the joint.
Some recomend double sided tape, which may be fine for a small length.
but because this tray was 2 x 3m pieces I felt that to position first tme excactly may have been a problem..

Any way the job was done a lot quicker and without the mess of using a hand router. Another advantage would be the use of the full width of a sheet..

That looks good Peter, how do you fix it to the wall?

i have used it and have mixed comments, i used it to over clad an existing lightbox and the return was more like 200mm i think not 50mm.

i was going to make an alu pan, but got asked by a rep to try it, so i did.

personally i think i the box i made was to long to rely on self adhesive tape in the groove that the aluminum/plastic (no ref to particular product but we all know) composite board had to stick into and was very tricky to acheive a good result without a permanent mechanical fixing.

although i think this is good for smaller signs of 1 panel. :lol1:

cheaper than buying a break press and a better finish than routing a groove and folding.

Ian I like the way you have re inforced the corners, Where did you get the “corrugated” angles from?
    Are the crimps done manually?

i asked the rep and he supplied them, ask smp..and yes manually with a technical adjuster (hammer) and a screwdriver.

no external fixings apart from installation.
