  • Replacing lightbox graphics without removing panels

    Hi guys,

when doing lightboxes i always remove the panels, bring back to workshop, strip and replace graphics.

I have an existing lightbox to do which is not workable from ladders, its roughly 3 or 4 metres long by 1m. Im thinking of stripping and replacing the graphics with the panels in place. My concern is how much more difficult this is and applying the graphics without breaking the panel (as there is nothing supporting behind except the frame).

Graphics to remove and replace are simple vinyl letters.

Did this once before for a guest house who’s sign was so far in a mess of wooden frame, snapped screws etc.. It was going to take ages to get it out. Was fine. Still looking great now. Pass it everyday. It was only 600 x 600 though, but never really thought or noticed the material flexing to the point I thought it was going to break.

Yes im guessing it will be fine putting the vinyl on. Maybe stripping could be more challenging but I think its worth a punt

working at height should always be kept to a minimum for your own safety.

We’ve all stripped graphics off Perspex that we thought this will only take ten minutes, when in reality it took an hour, using heat and glue remover before we can apply the new graphics. Pulling off ( :smiles: ) stubborn vinyl takes some strength on the bench, I wouldn’t like to do it at height.

Thanks for the advice guys. Im going to look into my crystal ball and see that this is a bad idea. Only option is to remove the panels.
