  • Replacing Acrylic panels or flexiface conversion

I have been asked to quote to replace the acrylic panels on a light box. At first glance this looks like two signs fitted one above the other, but it is in fact a single lightbox with two "L" shaped acrylic panels fitted back to back.

The overall size of the arrangement is 6M x 2M so two full size sheets of acrylic would be needed. In addition these would need to be cut to shape which would need careful handling (One of the existing panels has a crack running from the centre of one of the "cut outs" which is an obvious weak point.

How difficult would it be to convert to a flexface system, and who could supply the conversion kit and flex face?

you could use spirit flex to convert it , But doesn’t allow future access to lights.

TBH i’d replace as is, only difference is bore a 20mm hole at the corner of the L, and cut up to it , rather than cut right into the corner. this let’s all the stresses running into the corner pass around and stops cracking.

    Ian,

other option is do it in 4 pieces, and use panel clips to hold it together unlike the last guy

    quote Ian Johnston:

Loving your Tip Mr Johnston 😉

I virtually, never use acryic for fascia signs these days. ill do anything but use it. did my first acrylic fascia in god knows how long only last week. 2 x 30ft acrylic lightboxes. easy enough done, just hate using them, cutting them, joining them, etc etc

see if you guy is dead fixed on them being illuminated? explain the downsides of acrylic on an industrial site like this. bulb changing, cracked panels etc you could end up just ripping the lot down and replacing with a new dibond and frame sign? 😉 :lol1:
