  • Replacement for Grafiflex extra- white, anyone?

Posted by tonygoodall on September 20, 2007 at 10:50 am

    Hi,

I’m looking for a supplier to the W.Yorks area of a Thermal Transfer material similar to Grafityp’s Grafiflex extra which we have been using up until recently for a very large order (we will be needing over 200 meters in total). Grafityp have run out and apparently don’t know when they’ll be getting anymore in 🙄 which is a bit of a problem as the client needs 40 of the finished product by the end of next week.

We have already contacted a few other suppliers but can’t seem to find anyone with a decent replacement as the logo needs to be 565mm and the standard size of anybody else’s thermal transfer seems to be 500mm and the client will not accept ‘joins’ in the logo. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

    Cheers.

Tony I have just checked when our next shipment is due, and we expect this material to be with us next Tuesday.

    Regards

Tony that is the word from our purchase dept.

Of course it does have to travel from Italy so I would edge my bets a little and say by Thursday at the latest.

    Perhaps a silly question.
But why not screenprint for such a large quantity?

Not a silly question at all, I screen printed a design about that size yesterday for a sample for someone, took about a second and a half from swiping the ink to lifting the screen, then a little curing time & Job done.
200 metres printed would take about 3 hours tops on a carousel with 2 or 4 boards.
if its dark on light even less time, I read to think how long that would all take, from the cutting & reloading & realigning, to weeding then pressing 😮
I would consider screening them Tony
especially seeing as 200 metres of flex will cost you in the region of £1000
and a litre of Plastisol will cost you £15
    No brainer really

Hadn’t thought of that, but the design is to be branded onto awning canvas and double sided, wouldn’t the ink from screen printing leak through?
