Removing Vehicle branding
Posted by Warren Beard on 13 August 2007 at 21:13Hi All
A customer has a warrior and it has the logo on the bottom front corner of the front doors. He wants to use the colour of the vehicle to come through some reversed text and wants me to remove the warrior logo from the vehicle.
Can this be done and what is the best method?
Cheers
Warren

Warren, they are normally stuck on with double sided tape nowdays. Best way I have found to remove them is to get a piece of fishing line put a loop at either end for your hands to fit in and then place behind the lettering and move in like a sawing motion as you pull it along behind the lettering. Clean off remains of adhesive with something like tar and glue remover.

depends if it is lacquered over, if not its one of those pic break pic break pic break jobs
have petrol and tcut ready -
They usually come off really easy, especially if the sun’s out. It’s just a regular cast metallic vinyl.

Like martin says, sometimes a little heat first makes it a bit easier, but the fishing line (or floss-wire) is the best method I tried thus far.
One thing I know that can be a problem is that some have small holes behind them! (Mostly older cars)

Hi Guys
It is a vinyl type but thought it might have a coating over it to protect it. So a heat gun, tcut and sharp nails are needed?

That’s the one, just pick it off. Warm it with a hairdryer if it’s a cold day. I’ve done dozens of these and I’ve never found any kind of sealant or lacquer on them.

Warren, you got a picture of the back of that? I have been asked to do some chevrons on the back of one and wondered what the back was like.

Thanks Andy, I feel better now.
Martin, I do not but will be meeting him tomorrow night to take pictures so can send you one then if you want. I hope the rear does not have anything there as he wants the back done as well but have not seen it yet 😮
