Got a customer who has bought a Landrover defender, with no windows in the rear. He wants to use the panel where the windows would be to take two alternating sets of demountable signs, needless to say the panels are not steel so can’t use magnetic. Any suggestions which don’t involve fixing through the vehicle panel?

dibond it pretty light, you cuold make the panels from this, and have a few long strips of velcro to hold it on.

    Hi Dan

    Good question.

Off the top of my head would a magnet inside to hold the magnet outside not work?

Just a thought, not sure if the magnets will be strong enough 😕

    cheers

Use d/sided tape and reverse stick mag sheet onto windows, then supply magnetic signs same shape.
    Interchangeable 😉 😀

Have done it for a Del Boy reliant works a treat 😛

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, have tried the magnet inside and out trick but it is just not strong enough. Though of drilling through and fixing with wing nuts or suckers but want to avoid perforating the vehicle if at all possible.

Fred’s suggestion sounds well worth a try though.

I meant drill the foam board to fix the suckers to the board 😛

i’m not sure i would trust suckers to hold a sign on, it would rely on the paintwork being 100% smooth, and no dirt being there when you stick em on / change them. another potential prob would be the size of the gap behind the panels, alot of air could get under there and rip em off.

velcro is very strong, especially when supporting the weight vertically, 3-4 strips across the width of the sign, would be more than enough to hold it, and securely too.

Had an enquiry about a similar thing a couple of months ago, best way to do it we reckoned was use a banner and lots of velcro, especially on the forward edge.

Magnets do work if you get them strong enough, try the magnets from old loud speakers, the same as taxi roof signs
