  • REMINDER – Back Up your data

Well, had a luck escape tonight, got out of the car, picked up the laptop bag…….it flipped open and the laptop crashed down onto the driveway 😳 😳

Took it inside, pressed the power button and got 4 beeps and nothing else. First thing I was going to try was to slot the hard drive into my desktop using an adaptor cable, only to find the connector strip on the hard drive was not compatible 😥

After a bit of fiddling and checking bits inside the laptop, memory etc, it sprung back to life…… 😀

Needless to say, first thing was a BACK-UP as I had a couple of jobs to do. This was a sharp boot in the ar$e to treat my files like cold hard cash!!!!!

Buy a lacie drive (network or USB) and set it to do auto backups while your at work…
(that’s what we will be doing)

It really sucks when you lose data, I had a hard drive crash a few months back.. thankfully I was able to recover the data with some software.

You really should back up your system as well as the data,
if you have a major catasrophe, you can carry on working from the backup. whilst your original system is restored.

I am paranoid about loosing data, I have 2 external hard drives and a usb drive, two for backing up the systems and dats on each computer, and one for backing up data, I am even thinking about extra usb drives to back up the backups!

I also use the program that rob recomends, as well as a similar one, so have 2 backups of data

Good to hear it Peter… I hope you don’t keep them all in the same room tho at all times for fire risk

Well we have several backup systems and recently we hit 1TB of data limit. 😮
