Release liner not releasing, advice please?
Been having this problem for a wee while now. basically when peeling the vinyl off the backing its not sticking to the app tape, or rather it wont release from the backing paper. I use Rtape conform and Orafol app tapes and Oracal vinyl. The only thing i can think that i’ve changed recently is i’m now using a smart knife in my cutters.
It does seem to happen on the cut edges of the vinyl, could it be that the blade isn’t cutting right through the adhesive? I have no problems with weeding.
Any help / advice appreciated -

i have used Oracal for many years and i found out early on the the best app tape to use with Oracal is the Oracal tape everything else never holds as good. It is slightly dearer but works as the app tape should i would not try to use any other tapeKev

Funnily enough John i just set it slightly deeper and it peeled ok (this time)

How you remove the backing paper will make a big difference as well, try to remove it at to shallow an angle will encourage the vinyl to stay stuck on the backing paper, you should be rolling it back on itself so almost pulling at 180 deg angle if you get what I mean :lol1: :lol1:

Must be something to what Kevin is saying as well, I have never had a problem with oracal vinyl but then again guess what app tape I use lol

I found that removing the liner paper from the apptape/vinyl is much easier than removing the apptape/vinyl from the liner paper.
People usually think that it is the same, in practice it is not. Martin, you’re right the angle plays a role.
