We buy our LED’s via Paperlinx for SLOAN LED’s.
Even though we have done a good amount of LED work over the years I am not going to pretend to be some sort of expert. however, what i have noticed is that anywhere i have tried saving on LED’s in the past has always come back and stung me in some form, a year or two down the line.
brightness comparisons on what you THINK are "like for like" are VERY different. so you tend doubling up the amount to compensate and still not getting it just right, False economy… throw in the life and quality of the led and your really not saving much if anything..
anyway, i now try to only buy sloan or source letters containing sloan. once bitten and all that! 😀
Paperlinx have their own in-house led specialist called Macer Bridges, really nice guy and knows his stuff. ide suggest a call to macer if you can as he will definitely keep you right. ive been on some of his free training days hosted around the UK too, which were really worth while.
Sloan has a mobile app. type in the hight of the letters, the stroke width, depth of return and it instantly tells you how many LEDs and what type is in the range best suits.
I know Applelec also use Sloan, not sure on if thats only sold combined with their manufacturers letters etc might be fore a call anyway.
