Recommendation for Banner eyelet tool & die, please?
Posted by Jason Howard on 18 July 2020 at 20:41I am looking to produce some banners and need a banner eyelet too,l s there a recommended one along with the most popular size die. i have seen the mdp and signgeer ones but not sure which if any and the best size eyelets to get.
A manual tool is all that is required which i can move around easily, i know there are cheap ones around but would rather buy once with one that will be reliable.
if there is a good make of banner tape that would also help.

Hi Jason
We have a few eyelet presses. One of them is the same as the blue one shown in the attached image. You can see they are around £100 and come with a bag of eyelets.
I think the eyelets we use are 11 or 13 mm diameter holes.
We use Oracal banner hemming tape from Europoint.

Hi Robert
thank you for this i have just received my new printer and a few medias so will place an order next week so i can have a go with the banners.

I bought one from Hanolex. 11mm sees to be the norm for eyelets size. Hanolex press is great build quality and easy on the arms if pressing a lot. 👍

I picked one like this up a few years ago, we rarely use the hand press now. This is effortless on the bigger banners. I’ve just built a new machine room at work which will leave my workshop pretty much empty so I’m thinking about setting up a long bench against a wall & placing it alongside the high frequency welder making it possible to weld the hems & eyelet simultaneously. All I have to do now is stop talking people out of having banners🤭
