  • Rebates and discount agreements! What are your thoughts?

    Hi

This has come up once or twice and now again on a job we’ve quoted for, the customer (a contractor for the end customer) has requested (and I use the word :requested" loosely 😉 ) for us to sign a " rebate (discount) agreement".

Have you had any of these and what are your thoughts on them?

So they basically want 5% of any work they give you, is this normal? Always thought it was a bit dodgy like a bit of a backhand, those who pay it get more work.

What’s the overall consensus on this?

    Cheers

    Warren

I’ve done this a couple of times with ‘middle men’, only to never see or hear fro them again. Any that request it now get the same answer… on the first job – No, any subsequent work then we will do them 5-10% as long as the job is straight forward and has no hidden problems that we end up fixing on site, in which case they will be chargeable. They usually then bugger off – which suits me!

    Hi Hugh

That’s exactly what I had said to them, all future orders after this one 😉 will wait and see what happens 😉

Just good to know others thoughts.

    cheers

    well done!!!

We’ve all done it though, discounted a job on the promise of more work.. I even fell for a more subtle / similar approach recently, didn’t cost me much over £20 but when I realised.. :bangshead: !!!
