    Hi guys

I was asked to make sign from colored vinyl, where height is 5 meters and width is 50 meters. Surface is aluminum facade (panels) for warehouses.

So I have to make cutout only of letters in one colour.

So vinyl from many manufacturers comes in around 120cm roll. I will first make cutout on cutter.

My questions is if anybody here did install in past such huge sign from self-adhesive vinyl.

I suppose I would need to use application tape like RTape for transferring letters and that I should work with soapy water.

    To make around 40 pieces (1,2m x 5m)…

To use cast vinyl with 7 year warranty from manufacturer.

To make at least 2cm pass between layers….

Any ideas or suggestion what would be best practice?

Should I use some liquid laminate to paint edges to prevent vinyl to peel?

    Regards
    Saso

    Hello,

The biggest thing we have done is a 20m x 3m vinyl window display at T5 Heathrow.

But it was pretty easy, there will be no issues with cast vinyl peeling on aluminum, but only if the sheet is new and coated.

If its aluminum facade thats been installed and sitting for years in a dirty warehouse, then you will have issues. (Thats stuff is a bitch to clean).

    Good luck !

    Hi Steven

Thank you very much for your answer. What kind of technique
you have used to apply vinyl.

Did you cutout first vinyl..than apply transfer paper and cut to
1m strip with 20m length? I suppose you used mobile crane also ? How
many people installed this sign and how long it took you to apply.

If you would give me your email I would like to send you picture
what I need to do. After the job I will place here pictures how we did it.
Maybe you can give me some good advice.

    Regards

If it’s a single colour to the background, why not paint the background and apply cut vinyl lettering?

It’ll be so much easier to do the background, no overlaps and much faster to install.

Have you considered getting it printed direct onto the panels instead?

    Hi guys

thank you for replying. Building is already finished and
it’s cheaper and faster to cut letters out and stick it. Also
paint would fade with years as this side is turned to direct
    sun.

I hope Steven will share some advices.

    Regards

I’d of thought a good quality paint would outlast vinyl in direct sunlight, maybe wrong.

Do you have photo and a copy of design that you can post so you can be better advised?
