    Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding Vivid’s Boss Premium Brand laminating film.

Has anybody else in signage industry experienced any problems with the Boss Premium Gloss laminate & shrinkage when outdoors? Its a 3 year outdoor laminate so we didn’t expect it to last any longer than 3 years but it was failing within a few months and looked awful on the signs which have had to be replaced! Its costing us thousands to rectify! We currently have legal representation to which ( funnily enough ) Vivid are denying that it was even sold for outdoor use even though IT IS STILL being sold as a 3 year laminate!

Any knowledge on this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Ive never used this laminate, even though they state its a 3 year laminate is it a Polymeric or Monomeric lam? If its a monomeric laminate id say its unfair to call it a 3 year laminate……

We tried some of their Boss Digital Vinyl, and returned it to the paper merchant who sold it us, as it had an inconsistent finish across the roll.

The paper merchant has subsequently stopped supplying it and returned all their stock due to the problems they had.

We’ve gone back to working with Metamark, and occasionally Orajet.

    Thank you for your replies.

It’s monomeric laminate which is ‘suitable for 3 year outdoor use’, however failing within 6 months & shrinking by 30-40mm in this short time.

Sorry to hear you had a problem with their vinyl too David.

I personally would never use a monomeric laminate for external use, but have know a monomeric lam to shrink say 3-5mm over 6 months so 30-40mm is not expectable……Good Luck Jason
