  • raised/located lettering supplier?

Posted by Doug Kinrade on 26 July 2006 at 13:01

Just got a job i need a little help with. Customer has asked for part of the sign to be raised/located lettering which is a job I havent as yet tackled since starting. So basically i need a supplier that could manufacture the lettering with i assume a plan for fixing the mounts in the right places. The rest of the sign is just foam panels and vinyl.

Any help with suppliers for this would be appreciated.

    Thanks Doug

If you’ve never fitted raised letters, it’s easy. You tape a paper drilling template to the panel, drill all of the marks and then screw the locators in place. The letters have studs on the backs which push fit into the locators.

    Piece of p1ss.

Hi Doug, hows that mobile number work then, must be more numbers at the start, or is this something new to me?

Try Brimark on the home page they will provide letters with locators and a layout for them, good service, also Paul at Plastics for Performance info@plastics4performance.co.uk

    Cheers

Thanks guys, yeah i thought it would be as simple as that. All our mobile numbers start 07624 so not many customers feel the need to put them up.

Looking at the lettering on the sign, I would avoid using acrylic. Especially if all the writing is joined, as it is going to be difficult to handle without breaking. I had some made in Reynobond recently and they looked a treat, as long as you don’t mind the different coloured edge.

Also, one of your signs looks rather close to the ground. Are you worried about vandalism?

Good point! I’d not really thought about vandalism, could become a nightmare at that height. I think i’ll suggest doing the low one in just vinyl. Thanks for your help and ideas Andy.

Brimark are good, always quick to respond with quotes aswell.

Re: your sign. I would use a less extravagant font for the descriptive text and tel no. It detracts from the stylish font you have used for the name and also looks very cramped and hard to read.

You’re not wrong they respond quick, got a quote back within 10 minutes, brilliant service.

I know what you’re saying about the fonts but it was the customers choice as she’s had all her business cards and leaflets done in these styles, and you know the customer is always right!! 😮

If theres a danger of signage being vandalised I would consider having an anti-graffiti laminate applied over the top. If you have a supplier nearby they will possibly apply it to your finished article for a very reasonable cost.

There is a company in the northeast (Boldon Collery) called Impact 3D Graphics

    Might be worth trying them
