RAF Jets scrambled
Posted by Phill Fenton on January 24, 2011 at 6:40 pmApparently a couple of RAF Jets were scrambled to escort a passenger plane that was being diverted to another airport due to a disruptive passenger on board
What was the point I ask myself? What were they planning to do? Shoot down the plane if the disruptive passenger refused to behave? 🙄

Finally Landing successfully, The Police arrest & charge the passengers with serious assault for tackling the man to the ground as he made a dash to the cockpit. 🙄

🙄
So we can expect the RAF to be put on red alert when all the drunken holidaymakers get upset about not being allowed to smoke in the toilets on their way to the Costa Brava this summer :lol1: :lol1:

I tell you how stupid it all is.
I took my Mother (75 years old) to Edinburgh airport on Sunday to fly down to Norwich to attend a funeral service.
I got as far as security then had to leave her to fend for herself as she was exposed to the indignity of passing through metal detectors (having first been told to remove her shoes)!!
Whatever happened to common sense
🙄 🙄 -
Crash a plane or shoot it down over the London area disaster will ensue, as would any other highly populated area.
About time we went back to Adam n Eve pre the apple and start traveling in the buff 😮

🙄 🙄Common sense went out when highly educated doctors turned themselves into frazzles at Glasgow rushing to check-in an their 4×4 loaded with a bit extra fuel for the trip.
Common sense went out when some nutter tried to set his shoes on fire.Etc. Etc. Etc…
And what is so ‘undignified’ about going through a metal detector?
Or taking off you shoes for a security check…C’mon now Phil! You would be the first to cry "conspiracy / lax security" if the plane your dear old mum was involved in an incident caused by some numpty that’d carried on a weapon / substance.
I agree that the oft quoted Franklin "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
BUT is could just as easily be argued
"Those who would give up Essential Safety to purchase a little Temporary Liberty, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
(even if it’s uncertain that he did actually say those words….)

No they’ll be going into Spanish airspace 😀

Dave, common sense would be to make it impossible for anyone to enter the cabin in the first place. it cant be that hard or cost that much. after all, how many thousands of pounds was spent on scrambling those two jets? and why two??? in case the first one missed? :lol1: and god forbid… not forgetting the damage those jets will have on our environment. bet they dont use unleaded! :lol1:
i am all for safety… i have no problem of checks and double checks, metal detectors and more. zero problems with it at all. makes me feel better flying, if nothing else.however, i still dont buy into 7/10 so called acts of terrorism on various countries around the world. as for the glasgow airport joke… yep, these are the mastermind criminals our secret services protect us from.
anyway, i dont want to go down this route. peter will start asking me to prove things again. 😉 :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:just MHO 😀

And another thing…
Do airport security seriously believe my mum might be a terrorist, or do they think Al-quaeda are now also masters of disguise 😕
-
and another thing, if Al-quaeda knew that security did not check sweet little old ladies,
wouldn’t be long before they blackmailed one to carry their weapons on board, or even got their own mum’s to do it.
I only quickly read the article that Phil linked to, but if RAF jets were dispatched it must have been for a good reason and doubt if it was not your average drunken holiday maker.
The only way to make aircraft safe is to issue every passenger with a gun as they board. If anybody misbehaves the rest just deal with it 😀
Peteredited. I am usually very careful about the use of there and their,
It gets up my nose the amount of times I see the incorrect use by "signmakers*,
not just in posts, but in signs that have been produced
so just kicked myself up the r’sPeter

yep i saw that on news… but with bombs going off in Russia then quite possibly the reason why…
… but if i recall the reason at 9/11 then they would be ordered to blow the aircraft up!
-
Thank goodness our security officials remain on their toes. Who knows what carnage might have ensued had this gun been smuggled aboard 😕

Well this plane was scrambled when someone discarded a crisp packet yesterday over the Hebrides, fortunately the pilots manage to eject in time and get the crisp packet! phew well done boys!
