Hey, this is Mike. I’m in the U.S., I like watching the Formula One/GP 2, Moto GP, etc. races on Sunday mornings It seems these tracks have thousands of signs and banners all around them. I know some are permanent, but I was just curious if all the others were re-used, for the next race, next track, or just thrown away and more made next time?

i am guessing your talking about advertising signs? if so then they will be paid for by the advertiser and once the advertising period expires they will be taken down or replaced by a new advertiser. some will only be up for one race meet, whilst others maybe up for a year.

hope im understanding your question correct. 😀

Yeah Rob, that’s what I was referring to, the thousand Martini, and other signs and banners that lines all the walls of the tracks. Just seems like a big waste if they were used for only one event, but a goldmine if one has the contract to make them.

A couple of Letterheads are long time track painters.
Tony Vickio does the signs for (I think) Watkins Glen in NY.
Timi Barrow has done tons of track signs down South.
I know these guys have done everything from walls to grass to concrete.
I think paint for some vinyl for others.
I am not sure who does the signs for Lernerville, which is near me, but I assume they are like the ballfield signs I do.
I get subcontracted by the associations to do aluminum signs for a couple local ball fields, which are paid for by sponsors and change out on a yearly basis. I get a set fee and they charge the sponsors on top of that.
Some of them also use banners.
I noticed when watching the World Cup and being driven insane by the vuvuzelas (sp) that their ads change constantly and appear to be all digital.
And during the last Stanley Cup the hockey arena signs changed in between periods.
    Love….Jill

we have a large stadium in my town that hosts a lot of games but the advertising hoardings are all brought in for each game, hinged frames with banner material, after the game they are simply folded up into 8ft sections and brought to the next stadium. you can just see them in this pic
