CBS Outdoor UK and Merseyrail Launch Beatles Train Wrap

Merseyrail and CBS Outdoor UK have launched an innovative advertising campaign, featuring a full length ‘train wrap’, comprised of individual portraits and iconic images of the Beatles, in addition to the Albert Dock and Pier Head visitor attractions.

Developed by Merseytravel, owners of the Beatles Story attraction, the specially commissioned design created by marketing and advertising agency Creative Concern, required carriages to be completely peeled back to their base layer, so that the new look design could be ‘wrapped’ around them.

The campaign will see a train comprised of three carriages wrapped in advertising which will target passengers travelling on the Merseyrail network, including key stops at James Street, Moorfields and Central underground stations.

Councillor Mark Dowd, a former train driver and Chairman of Merseytravel said: “The Merseyrail network carries some 34 million passengers every year. This train is unique, in creating an innovative and high impact advertisement aimed at promoting the Beatles story to visitors to the City.”

Bart Schmeink, Merseyrail Managing Director added: “Merseyrail offers a hassle-free link to many attractions across Merseyside and beyond. We are delighted to work together with our partners to encourage the travelling public and visitors to see all that Merseyside has to offer.”

Neil Micklethwaite, Franchise Director for Bus & National Rail at CBS Outdoor UK, said: “The Beatles Story wrapped train project is a great example of partnership working between Merseyrail , CBS Outdoor UK and Creative Concern, which showcases the benefits of this very innovative use of the Outdoor medium – visually stunning, highly impactful – a real success story. The fact that this can be done on a train shows the power of train advertising to communicate a powerful message which sets a benchmark for future advertising clients and their agencies on the Merseyrail network."
